I’m beginning to share Shannon‘s dislike for crochet. I like the stitches well enough and I like making them, but constantly picking up stitches and holding the yarn in my left hand is giving me carpal tunnel syndrome. Not to mention I can’t keep “gauge” (that is, my supposedly straight scarf looks like a lot of hourglasses taped together) and my scarf is not a nice rectangle like it is supposed to be. I’ve tried counting stitches every row, but it still looks horrible. I have one foot left to go on my Red Scarf 2008b and I’m dragging. Not that I’ve had a lot of crafting time this week with being sick and having tons of work to do, but I can’t carry the scarf around with me that well because it’s too long to be portable.
That being said, I think I may start trying out granny squares for my next scarf. My mom’s friend has been collecting yarn for years and is interested in charity projects so she is sending me some of her red yarn (I know, “Don’t you have enough?”!) and I’m going to try to make 5 scarves for me and 5 scarves for her to send in to the Red Scarf Project this year. Of course I only have until October 15th or so to do so, so we’ll see.
Meanwhile, I have been addicted to the yarn organization site we all know and love, and so I will probably re-institute my “stash photo a day” project that was suspended after all my swap drama earlier this year. Not only do I have a lot of my stash that needs photos, but I have done some trading (and *ahem* buying) of stash with other knitters, and I’ve got some cool stuff to show. As you may have guessed, it’s all red and black 🙂 except when it’s purple.
To start you off, here is my addition to Yarn Porn Friday (moved to Saturday, as my camera ran out of batteries yesterday):
2 skeins of Classic Elite Marl La. I had been eyeing this yarn at Little Knits forever, and now I have some, thanks to Marlene! She also sent me 3 more skeins of the Karaoke colors I bought in Portland last time, and a Louet yarn called “Diana’s Dreams”. I’m so excited! Stash accounted for: 159 skeins (and way more to come!)
