I’m in Secret Pal 5! Of course sometime in my life I’ll get my buttons set up (BR was goofing off all weekend after working “all the hours” for maybe 4 mos.), but for now, here are the questions you’re supposed to answer:

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

I usually get my yarns from my LYS or Knitpicks but I have been known to make a project or two out of Lion Brand. I probably wouldn’t use anything too unnatural because of the feel of knitting with it. I like to think I’m not a snob, but maybe I am.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?

I used to crochet and plan to pick it up again this summer, but probably won’t be spinning anytime soon.

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)

None that I know about.

4. How long have you been knitting?

I learned in high school, and picked it up again about 18 mos. ago.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

I have a knitpicks.com wish list here, under my “100 Things” list.

6. What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

When I worked at Bath and Body Works I loved their Plumeria, but I don’t really do candles or anything like that so I don’t have really have any favorites.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?

I think I’d say my sweet tooth has me! I’m addicted to sweets! My DH, BR, used to joke about me and the old Ray Romano joke about asking his daughter what she was thinking about and she said “Candy.”

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?

I would love to get into jewelry making but right now I only knit because I know how to do it and haven’t tried a new hobby yet. I may just try hand-dyeing (sp?) yarns at some point soon. I tend to bake way more than I should, but I enjoy it.

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

We can pretty much play anything. My favorites are indie rock and pop, but I am mostly addicted to covers of any kind. So if any kind soul out there (secret pal or not) wants to collect their covers for me I’d be happy to even just get a list to add to my website, cover-versions.com which I promise to update this summer! (I have heard of the other covers lists but they depress me since they came around after my site and they have all this press.)

10. What’s your favorite color? Or–do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can’t stand?

Red! I love variegated red yarns and just plain red. I also have been known to knit quite a bit in black, and some in hot pink. I’m not fond of orange or yellow and pastels are way too light for me (but I like white, off white and grey).

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I have three boys (5, 2, and 8 mos.) and no pets. Oh, and the DH.

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)

To find a job I enjoy that might possibly pay me, to live in a foreign (non-U.S.) country, to get a tummy tuck, to travel with my family, to re-learn the languages I’ve studied in the past.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

So far I love Noro, Manos del Uruguay and Cascade yarns.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

The eyelash and “novelty” yarns. I find them hard to knit with and I’m not a scarf or hat person.

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?

I’m really into different stitches, lace and cables.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Clothing – tops, shrugs, skirts, ties, socks.

17. What are you knitting right now?

A baby blanket for my youngest, a shrug for me, my Father’s Day presents. I can’t wait until after I finish something so I can start a new project!

18. What do you think about ponchos?

I think they’re on their way out, if not already out. But I liked them while they lasted.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?

dpns for socks, circular for everything else.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

I use my Denise system mostly but if it’s being used I like bamboo.

21. Are you a sock knitter?

I enjoy making socks but don’t have any on the needles right now. I also like trying out sock yarn on other items.

22. How did you learn to knit?

My mom taught me in high school, then I got a magazine to bring myself up to speed recently.

23. How old is your oldest UFO?

Just about one year, it was a Father’s Day gift from last year.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?

Chococat from Hello Kitty, and I love cats, although BR is allergic so we’ll probably never get one.

25. What is your favorite holiday?

Mother’s Day or Thanksgiving.

26. Is there anything that you collect?

Chococat items, cover versions of popular music

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

Interweave Knits, Knitter’s, and Creative Knitting is on the way.

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?

Debbie Bliss’ Special Knits, Teva Durham’s Loop D Loop and Not Just Socks. The books I have are here.

I can’t wait to start reading other people’s lists!
